Paul Prichard resigned as Captain at the end of the 1998 season. Former vice-captain Nasser Hussain will be his replacement.

Several players left Essex at the end of last season. These included Neil Williams, Andrew Hibbert, Darren Cousins and Danny Wilson. So far we have only signed William Jefferson from Norfolk.

Essex will be known as the Essex Eagles for next seasons National League. Lets just hope we don't suffer the same downfall as the famous skijumper Eddie The Eagle!

This year will be Nasser Hussain's Benefit year.
